What I do: Serve my community as sheriff of Douglas County, where I have spent my entire 25-year law enforcement career.
What I like most about living here: It's a beautiful and safe place to live and raise a family. I love Douglas County's mix of urban and rural communities and the fact we have great outdoor recreational opportunities through the Pike San Isabel National Forest and out county open space areas.
My interests and hobbies: I'm a career law enforcement officer. I enjoy teaching, I love spending time with my family and my hobby is restoring old cars.
My favorite thing to cook: Anything on the grill.

How I have contributed to the community: I am proud to have served my entire 25-year law enforcement career in Douglas County. I believe I contribute by working to provide better and more effective public safety services, by being fiscally responsible, and by developing new and improved programs to better protect and educate our citizens.
What are the biggest issues facing Douglas County now: Douglas County is a fantastic place to live and work but it is not without issues that must be considered when planning for the future. From a broad perspective, growth, the stability of the economy, homeland security, and water resources are important issues facing Douglas County and many other communities. From a public safety perspective, my biggest objective is to ensure that the 417-person sheriff's office is properly prepared and always serves the needs of Douglas County with integrity, at the highest standards, and with fiscal responsibility. I believe this "service excellence" standard is vital and is the nexus for our ability to provide the most innovative, modern, and effective services in a fair, firm and impartial manner.
