"Life's A Beach" was the theme of the 2nd annual Krewe of Renard Roux's
Mardi Gras Ball held on Sunday night at Joe's Crab Shack in Parker. The South Metro Denver area Krewe was formed in 2007 by Margaret Strnad of Parker(Gulfport and Biloxi, Ms.), Hattie Bertrand of Highlands Ranch(New Iberia, La.),
Amber Lena of Highlands Ranch(Gulfport, Ms. and Slidell, La.), Loreen Vaughn of Highlands Ranch(New Orleans, La.) and Sara Rooney of Englewood(New Orleans, La.).
The packed house partied and danced to the music of Colorado's own Beach Boy, Don Lewis (

).
Highlight of the evening was the crowning of the new Court of Renard Roux(red fox) by the reigning Royalty. Selected by Queen Brenda, the First, was Her Majesty, Queen Lina, the Second. Drawn by King Jim was his Majesty, King Gerald. Selected as Maid was Ms. Gayle Storm and the Duke was Mr. Tony Strnad.
Queen Lina Fletcher is orginally from Australia. She and her husband, David, reside in Centennial and she also holds the title of 'professional gardener'.
King Gerald Marcell and his lovely wife, Linda, live in Highlands Ranch. King Gerald is an employee of Anadarko Petroleum.
Maid Gayle Storm is a very popular member of the Red Hat "Floozies" of Parker, a Mother and a very devoted Grandmother.
Duke Tony Strnad also of Parker served as King of the Krewe of Venus Mardi Gras Carnival Organization of Gulfport, Mississippi and Duke of Venus as well as Duke of Les Femmes of Biloxi, Ms. The Court will reign for one year and will ride in this summer's 4th of July parades.
Over $1,000.00 in door prizes were awarded during the evening. The prizes, gift baskets and gift certificates were donated by Parker, Denver, Highlands Ranch, Lonetree and Centennial businesses, Hattie and Ken Bertrand, Margaret Strnad and Joe's Crab Shack.
Ball Captain(Co-Ordinator) for the event was Margaret Strnad. The Krewe will host a summer patio party and membership drive at "Joe's" in July. More information can be obtained by e-mail:
