The Brad Side of Things: Bush's Terrorist Fetish

Surprise, Surprise, the Bush administration again today signed more legislation that protects this country from terrorists. Sounds like a good thing for a President to do correct? Once again however, as the ACLU brings up, this administration has again overstepped its power and completely disregarded the whole concept of checks and balances that this country was found upon.

Today Bush signed a bill that allows for the Government, more specifically the Executive branch to perform military tribunals on suspected terrorists, and deny them the right of a trial by jury and many of the rights that this country was found upon. With this bill, anyone in American could be detained indefinitely, questioned harshly without a lawyer present and locked away in Guantanamo Bay never to be heard from again. And yet people get angry when others compare this Administration to the Nazi's of WWII? Let's see an oppressive government that changes its laws so as to have the capability to imprison a section of its own population, sounds about right.

So now in no way am I implying that this would happen but I observe that with this president's recent flat out attacks against the democrats indicate that the stage is now set for this administration to start detaining people who speak out against this administration, namely democrats, label them terrorists in the name of protecting democracy... Does anyone else see the irony here, along with the realization of the magnitude of this bill?

Apparently there is at least one person who does. A reporter who bashed the Clinton administration during the Lewinsky scandal much to the delight of the republicans but now is being called a traitor for doing unbiased journalism and critiquing the Bush administration much the same way he did the Clinton Administration. Keith Olbermann is one of the last people who is standing up and not being intimidated with this administrations threats and media control. Even if you don't agree with my points, I encourage you to hear Olbermann's view of this administration's lumping of democrats with terrorists especially after his half-hearted speech about bipartisan unity: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15147009/

I personally am terrified, not of terrorists, but of this regime currently parading around Washington going totally unchecked.

In response to this regime, I am calling for a test of the system. I would like to see our glorious leader go into the system as a suspected terrorist and attempt to wiggle his way out of the policies that he set forth. Set it up that he was recorded, via illegal wiretap saying that he hated this administration and the policies of this government in Iraq and where this country was headed. Have him watch as a terror case is fabricated against him and his rights vanish. Lock him away without any contact to the outside world, much less a lawyer and then ask him if this policy is in the best interests of the American people.

It's time for Americans to take their country back.
