Nick Davis
, of the Denver Titans, is definitely not your average football player.
His impressive 6' 4" 325 pound stature is only a hint of the power behind this all star lineman. His interesting journey started in 1982 and took an interesting turn on the 50 yard line a few weeks ago. Take a few minutes to meet Nick Davis, our athlete of the week .
Nick was born in 1982 in Clearfield, Utah. Around 18 months he moved with his family to Colorado Springs, where his mom raised him herself after the age of 7 years old.
A few years later, Nick was fortunate enough to gain a wonderful stepfather into his life that supported him and his mom from over 1,100 miles away, where he was working.
When it came to sports, Nick was on his own. Nick persuaded his mom into signing him up for little league football in the 8th grade.
He then played his freshman year at Mitchell High School, but transferred to Sand Creek High School, where he made the Varsity Squad. At this point, he played defensive line because he was very quick for his size and was a quarterback's worst nightmare.
Nick graduated high school in May 20, 2000 and went to Adams State College and played one year of football as a walk on. During the off season Nick played rugby where he was a starting prop.
After a year at Adams State he moved to the Denver metro area. This is where his C.F.C. (Colorado Football Conference) football career began with the Colorado Wildcats.
Nick was working at a Sears retail store in Westminster as a warehouse associate when current Broomfield Dawgs coach
Rich "Red-Beard" Leamon
noticed Nick carrying a clothes dryer in his bare hands and loaded it into a customer's truck.
Seconds later Coach "Red-Beard" witnessed Nick carrying the matching washing machine also without any assistance. So the coach approached Nick and asked him if he has ever played any football and there began a friendship that lives on today.
At "Red-Beard's" invitation, Nick attended the Colorado Wildcats tryouts as a defensive lineman. During this tryout, another coach noticed Nick's lightning fast feet.
The coach asked Nick to try an offensive line position as a left tackle. Nick ended up becoming the starting left tackle. During that season Nick was invited to tryouts in Omaha, Nebraska for an arena team named The Omaha Beef, he came in second place out of the entire league as offensive lineman of the year, and also made the all-star team, which is like the pro-bowl in the NFL level.
Nick accomplished all of this within the first year in the C.F.C., and without really knowing the complete role as an offensive lineman.
Nick is now in his 4th year in the C.F.C. and is in his second year as a Denver Titan. His first year as a Titan he became a C.F.C. champion and earned his very first championship ring, which in his words is the greatest achievement he has accomplished thus far in his life.
"Thus Far" being key words as his life took an amazing turn during Halftime a few weeks ago when he "took a knee" on the 50 yard line and proposed to the "most beautiful and classiest girl in the world."
As
Stephanie Toney
stood gazing at the ring, Nick was suddenly tackled by three of his own teammates before she even had a chance to answer! The stands were a mix of quiet anticipation and laughter at the sight of Nick trying to wrangle his way back to his bride-to-be where her open arms and nodding head let us all know that she had indeed said yes!
The couple plan to marry this winter.
Nick idolizes two football players that he really looks up to still to this day,
Reggie White
(R.I.P.) and
Brett Favre
. Nick chooses to follow these two because of their characteristics of being modest and show class and love for the game.
Nick has a few choice words he tries to teach to children that he coaches in his spare time. He tells the children that look up to him like he is a true role model; "You are only respected by the amount of class that you show".
Well, Nick on behalf of the entire Denver Titans Organization, we are proud to honor you as a true class act on and off the field. Congratulations on being our Athlete of the Week. For more information about the Denver Titans, please visit us online at

All home games are played at Shea Stadium and admission is always Free so bring the whole family out to meet Nick Davis and the rest of our squad.
