NAME: Robert L Roos
NICKNAMES: Tank, Kanga, Batman, and to some of the players "5-0"
DOB: September 7 th
OCCUPATION: Colorado State Patrol's Lead Fitness Standards Coordinator / Denver Titans Center and Offensive Line Captain.
FAMILY: 2 Daughters Amanda and Amber
TIME LINE:
Rob grew up in Gibbon Nebraska and moved to Wiggins Colorado when he was 15.
After graduating high school he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served 6 years on active duty, 2 years with the Fleet Antiterrorist Strike Teams out of Norfolk Virginia, and 4 years with the 22 nd and 24 th Expeditionary Spec Ops Units out of Jacksonville North Carolina. During his tour of duty he was fortunate enough to participate in Operation Sharp Edge in Africa and Operations Desert Shield / Desert Storm earning two Combat Action awards, a Humanitarian medal, and 12 other decorations. Rob loves the fact that he got to travel to 14 countries spreading over 3 continents and earned "0" frequent flyer miles.
Rob joined the Colorado State Patrol in 1995 and his first duty station after graduating the academy was in Greeley where he worked the road until 2000. He then transferred to the Executive Security Unit and worked for Governor Owens at the Governors Mansion and State Capitol with the Protection Detail. In 2004 Rob became the Patrol's Lead Fitness Standards Coordinator and Captain of the State Patrol's Color Guard and is currently assigned to the Professional Standards Section / Fitness Standards Unit and stationed at the CSP Academy where he runs the fitness testing for every State Trooper and teaches fitness and nutrition classes.
Rob loves to play football and has played full contact or competitive flag most of his life. He says that playing football keeps him young at mind, heart, and body, and the Titans family and fans is what keeps him in touch with the goodness of society when being a police officer has a tendency to show you the negative side of humanity more than the positive.
The team he played for at the Police and Fire Games in 2005 won the Silver Medal and a teammate of his told him that he should try out for the CFC in 2006. Through an acquaintance in the flag arena he chose to try out for Titans and has played with, and proudly wears, two championship rings. Rob is hoping to have a chance to play in the Minor League Super Bowl in Minnesota 09 with his Titan brothers.
Rob's advice to a good life... Have faith, live by the square, treat your body like a temple, stay young, and follow your heart.
