Mountain Vista Gold wins icebreaker tournament

The Mountain Vista Golden Eagles seventh Grade Boys "Gold" feeder team won the 10 th Annual Icebreaker Youth Basketball Tournament. The tournament was held November 30 th through December 3 rd, at the Gold Crown Field House, in Lakewood.

In "Pool" play, Mountain Vista Gold went a perfect 3 and 0, defeating the D'Evelyn, Pomona, and Heritage High Schools 7 th grade Gold Crown feeder teams. In the semi-finals, Mountain Vista Gold used balanced scoring from all players to defeat the Columbine Rebels 39 to 28.

In the Championship game, Mountain Vista Gold fell behind early to the Ralston Valley Fire and faced their first significant deficit of the tournament. Digging in on defense, Mountain Vista Gold clawed their way back to a 19-19 tie game at half-time. In the second half, Mountain Vista used their "tenacious D," to outscore Ralston Valley 25 to 8, and went on to win the Championship by a final of 44 to 27. As in their previous games, Mountain Vista Gold used a total team effort to win the tournament.

Starting in January, Mountain Vista Gold will be playing in the Gold Crown Foundation's 7 th Grade Boys "Gold" league.
