WOMAN ARRESTED FOR SHOPLIFTING
An 87-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting at a King Soopers, 9800 W. Belleview Ave., at 3:11 p.m. April 14. A loss prevention officer told the deputy she was monitoring the store with a surveillance camera when she saw the woman open a box of Band-Aids, place several of them in her pocket and put the box back on the shelf. The woman walked away, returned a short time later and took more Band-Aids from the box. The woman went to the checker, paid for all of the other items in her cart and was detained as she tried to leave the store. When the deputy introduced himself to the woman she said "I've never stolen anything before; I have no idea why I did this." The deputy recovered 24 Band-Aid strips from the woman's pocket. The woman was issued a summons for theft.
HOUSE OF WORSHIP VANDALIZED
A Jeffco Sheriff's deputy was sent to the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall, 8640 W. Chatfield Ave., at 1:20 p.m. April 12 on a report of graffiti. A 53-year-old elder at the church told the deputy someone had painted gold graffiti on the south exterior wall of the building, including the word "devil" and an image of a cross. The man said the church has not had any disputes that he knew of. Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies had no suspects at the time of the report.
STRANGER ON DOORSTEP
A Jeffco Sheriff's deputy was called to a home on the 11000 block of West Berry Drive April 9 at 10:24 p.m. April 9. The homeowner told the deputy she was sitting at her kitchen table when she heard a noise outside her front door. The woman looked through her peephole and saw a man about six-feet-tall with blond curly hair standing on her front stoop. The man did not ring the doorbell or knock on the door, according to the woman. When the deputy arrived, the man was gone. The woman gave the deputy a description of the man in case he returned. Sheriff's deputies had no suspects at the time of the report.
