Do your nonprofit organization's public relations efforts need a boost? The Public Relations Society of America's (PRSA) Colorado Chapter is hosting "PR Boost: Giving Nonprofit PR a Leg Up Goes VIRAL."

HOW: Via a live streaming conversation with the Twitter hashtag #PRBoost

During this event, a panel of experienced PRSA public relations practitioners will answer questions about nonprofit public relations. There is no cost for nonprofits to participate.

PANELISTS INCLUDE:

Kristy Bassuener (@kristy_DAM) is the communications manager at the Denver Art Museum. She is a high-performing communications professional with more than 10 years of media and public relations experience.

Lisa Cutter (@PRLisa) is the owner of Cutter Communications. Drawing from nearly 20 years of experience, Lisa is an expert in traditional media relations and can speak to how to successfully build relationships with journalists.

Jane Dvorak, APR (@JaneDvorakAPR) is the owner of JKD & Company and specializes in strategic planning, fundraising and special events coordination for nonprofits. Since starting her company in 1989, she has driven communications programs and organizational trainings for a broad range of nonprofits.

Bill Green (@Bill_Green) is an independent public relations practitioner and a partner at Sagen Media. From blogger outreach and Facebook campaigns to Web 2.0 crisis communications, Bill strategically navigates the realms of social and emerging media.

Gina Seamans, APR (@ginaseamans) is the president of the PRSA Colorado Chapter and a senior counselor at JohnstonWells Public Relations. With 19 years of experience, Gina offers an extensive background in public relations services, specializing in issues management and crisis communications.

HOW TO TUNE IN:

  1. Create a Twitter account (if you do not already have one) by visiting http://twitter.com/.
  2. To follow the conversation, we recommend logging on to TweetChat with your Twitter account information and typing in the hashtag #PRBoost to view the live streaming conversation at 11 a.m. MST on Nov. 4. (Note "hashtags" are a way to flag conversations/topics in Twitter).
  3. You also can follow the conversation by going to Twitter Search or TweetGrid and typing in #PRBoost. If using Twitter Search, make sure to refresh the page frequently to stay current on the conversation.Type in your tweet as you would any tweet. All tweets should be tagged with #PRBoost. If using TweetChat, as long as you continue to stay logged in, the hashtag #PRBoost will automatically be added to your tweets.
  4. To guide the conversation, nonprofits should send in their questions about public relations to NonprofitPRBoost@gmail.com by Tuesday, Nov. 3. Appropriate topics include fundraising, issues management, social media, crisis communications, media outreach, etc. Please try to keep questions short, as they will appear in the #PRBoost forum using only 140 characters. Based on the number of responses, we may not have time for all questions. We may schedule a follow-up TweetChat to address specific topics raised or unanswered questions.

THE RULES:

  1. Introduce yourself (name, organization, city, state).
  2. Make sure to send in your questions beforehand to NonprofitPRBoost@gmail.com by Nov. 3. Please try to keep questions down to 130 characters to allow space for the #PRBoost tag when the questions are posed to the forum by the event moderator.
  3. #PRBoost will be moderated by @prsacolo, a PRSA Colorado representative on Twitter who will serve as a third party to open the session and provide panelists with questions.
