Playgroups for stay at home daddies and more
Contributed by: Annadell Burke on 7/18/2007

Let's face it, having children is easy. Raising them? That's the challenge!
Many parents feel isolated.
They tend to feel that they are the only ones experiencing this or that; then, when they find out that all parents have issues, it can be a huge relief. The idea behind these informal "playgroups" is to provide a community of support and encouragement that will have a positive impact on the parents that will ripple through the rest of the family. Happier parents make for happier children.

Parents in Potty Training (Tuesday 2:00 - 4:30)

Meet other parents/caregivers going through the same trials as you. Potty training can be one of the proudest and most frustrating times of your young child's life. This is not a formal support group - just parents kicking around ideas while the kids play.

Stay at Home Daddy (Wednesday 2:00 - 4:30)

Dads who make the decision to stay home and be primary caregivers for their children have great rewards, and they have significant challenges. One of the challenges faced by stay at home dads is the feeling of isolation and the lack of adult contact during the day. Here's your chance to meet other Men that have made the same choice for their family. This is not a formal support group - just a chance to meet other Stay at Home Dad's while the kids play.

Grandparent Hours (Thursday 2:00 - 4:30)

In the U.S. there are 60 million grandparents, 10% are helping raising their grandchildren. Here's your chance to meet other Grandparents that have been given the chance to share in the joy of raising their grandchildren. This is not a formal support group - just a chance to meet other Grandparents while the kids play.

Parents of Twins/Triplets (Friday 2:00 - 4:30)

Here's a chance for parents of multiples to meet in a fun and safe environment, where you can discuss the great rewards, and the significant challenges that confront you and your family. This is not a formal support group - just a chance to meet other parents of multiples while the kids play.

Dad Hours (Saturday 10:00 - 1:00)

Working Dad's need special time with their toddlers (and Mom would love a few minutes of "me time") Discover the amazing things your child can do in a fun, safe environment. No Singing, No Dancing and Not the Only Guy in the Place!

"The KangarooKingdom is as much about the parents as it is the children."Annadell Burke, owner. "I'm very excited about being able to offer these playgroups. So many times it can be difficult to break into an established playgroup - if you can even find one. By having this be simply another part of our Open Play, much of the pressure is off."

Rock on! Too bad you are way up north! My sister lives in Erie and it is a good hour’s drive there, so give my best to all Dads in attendance, I will not be making the commute at 3 bucks a gallon. Castle Rock needs something like this; I know a few at home dads in CR and Parker both. -Mike www.milehidad.com
