The Women's Wilderness Institute to hold clinics and backcountry trip
The Women's Wilderness Institute still has space available on upcoming one-day clinics and an exciting backcountry fly fishing weekend. The Women's Wilderness Institute runs outdoor courses each summer to give women in the Colorado community the unique opportunity to fish with other fisherwomen from around the country.
The trips allow for women of all ages to learn a new outdoor skill in a supportive and uplifting environment. Women from all over the world are discovering a passion for fly fishing. The Women's Wilderness Institute provides Colorado women with the opportunity to explore this thrilling sport.
Intro to Fly Fishing for Women is a great course for beginners and perfect early-season tune-up for anglers with some prior experience. When you attend our clinic you will learn everything they need to know to enjoy a day of casting and catching from expert instructors at The Women's Wilderness Institute. During this day-long clinic, we will cover the key components of catch and release fishing, including rod and reel set-up, casting, tying knots and avoiding line snags.
Date: June 21 or July 13 [1 day]
Location: Boulder area
Tuition: $100, includes fly fishing gear and lunch
The three-day Backcountry Fly Fishing trip takes participants to the high-alpine lake terrain of Wyoming's Snowy Range. After a short backpack in, the group will establish a basecamp and visit several trout-filled backcountry lakes. You will learn all the basics of the equipment, casting, knots, wading and fishing from the shore, plus some advanced skills like selecting flies and different kinds of casting. The hike in is relatively gentle which also makes this course a good introduction to backpacking. This course is appropriate for beginners and fisherwomen with prior experience.
Date: August 8-10 [3 days]
Location: Snowy Range, Wyoming
Tuition: $425, includes fly fishing gear, all food and camping equipment.
