Blog Entry 25 of 37 The Happenings at LAC!
Lakewood Arts Council serves Jefferson County, and its Community Art Center and Gallery is located at 85 S. Union in Lakewood. LAC supports all of the arts: visual, music, theater, literary. My name is Cindy Haase and I am the LAC Board's President for 2009. As part of our outreach I will be posting items from my viewpoint of the happenings at LAC. You can also visit our official website at www.lakewoodartscouncil.org for information on how to join. It's a great community of friendly people. Check us out, and hopefully join in the fun.

New Work by LAC's Co-op Artists

Lakewood Arts Council is a non-profit arts organization. We are fortunate to receive some SCFD funding, and have received several small grants from local businesses. While we thank our benefactors immensely, we mostly exist because of our members and their generous support and volunteerism.

The Lakewood Arts Council Community Center and Gallery is nestled in a mall at 85 S Union between Kobe An Japanese Restaurant and my favorite French Press. It is a two-story handicapped accessible gallery with the co-op artist gallery and classroom on the first floor. The second story is called The Loft and is the scene of rotating art exhibits every 4-6 weeks.

Currently, The Loft is being rented for the Kipling Camera Club Photography Exhibit. It's a wonderful exhibit with some really great prices on the photography.

The co-op space has just been rehung as most of our artists (somewhere around 27) changed out their work on Saturday July 11th. Thanks to our Artistic Director, Kathy Berls, everything was hung beautifully this morning.

Our gallery offers a great selection of affordable, quality art in all media..watercolor, oil, acrylic, colored pencil, pastel, photography, digital, fiber art, pottery, glass, jewelry, art cards ....hmmm, have I forgotten anything??

Please think of us when you are looking for that special gift!
