Blog Entry 201 of 216 The Lakewood Zit Journal
A couple of weeks ago, I got a zit. It’s the first one I can remember having since 1967. And it would appear on the end of my nose on a night I had an appointment to model at a photography gallery. I can’t get that zit off my mind. So I’ve decided to immortalize it with a journal. All the old stuff is still in here but, starting Memorial Day, May 26, 2008, new stuff will begin to arrive. I’ve been practicing my typing so I’m ready to crank it out on the screen and blog it directly to your living room, anywhere in the world. So sit back. This is the real thing. This is The Lakewood Zit Journal.

Is a free movie worth it?

Today was Free Afternoon at the Movies sponsored by the City of Lakewood at Clements Community Center, 1580 Yarrow Street. Pick of the day. I Am Legend.

Come on now, you've heard of I Am Legend. It was in the theaters last year. What you may not know is that this movie is based on a book that was published while I was still in high school.

New York never looked worse in paintings touched up with digitized details. The movie moved along so slowly that I would have sworn that it was twice as long as the hour and a half measured by my watch. The remaining 10 minutes of the movie was made up of the names of artists and digital creators backed by Bob Marley's singing. Marley was an interesting touch but seemed somewhat out of place after what had come before. It was like finishing off the Clockwork Orange with Singing in the Rain.

Don't worry. I'm not going to review movies. This is just a zit of what I did today.

P.S. Two weeks from today, once more using the set-up of Ghost and Heaven Can Wait, the final June movie will be P.S. I Love You. I have to admit that it's much easier for a movie to make me cry that to scare me. That means a pre-trip to the john for a couple of paper towels before 1:00 p.m. when the movie will start.

Oh, and I agree about I Am Legend -- not my favorite, I was disappointed.

How funny, I just watched PS I Love You last night. Yes, it's a bit of a tear-jerker. It was cute but was a bit sappy, I think I prefer the romantic comedies that are a little more on the comedy side, but hey, for free, it's worth a watch.
