Blog Entry 1 of 2 Old Cars Rule!
Classic cars is one of my passions, and while I will blog on this topic, I will also ramble about lots of other stuff!

MY NEW CLASSIC

As an avid classic car collector, I am never in the market but always on the lookout for new "old" cars. Living where I do, I frequently travel Florida to Pierce, Pierce to Jewell, and then east to get to Federal and then Evans to go to that part of town without using the freeway. For some months now I was noticing what looked to be a really nice older Chrysler car sitting on Pierce between Florida and Jewell. I am more a Cadillac man, but I couldn't help admiring how clean this car looked. Two weeks ago, I noticed a For Sale sign in the car window, and is is my wont, had to stop and look. Upon closer inspection, the car turns out to be a fairly rare 1969 Chrysler 300, which was not as highly produced as New Yorkers, Newports, etc. Sporting a newly repainted (in the original color) body, and with almost entirely original and beautiful interior, I checked further. It turned out the car also had the even rarer 400ci TNT engine, a 375 hp version of the basic 440 engine (350hp). Along with this option came the snorkel air cleaner and dual exhaust. The car runs great, has 74k original miles, and was originally purchased by a little old lady named Goldia at Crouch Chrysler-Plymouth in Englewood. Needless to say I bought it, and you should look for it around town. It is green with a white vinyl top, 2 door, and sounds like a muscle car!

Great blog, Chris. Reader Floyd Gray e-mailed us this comment this morning: To Chris Hayward: I really enjoyed your article last week on the 1969 Chrysler. I have a 1965 Chevelle Malibu SS that I purchsed new, completely restored. May we have more articles on old cars?
