Coyote Gulch video now on YouTube

Citizens working to stop the baseball field at Coyote Gulch Park, 2501 S. Gladiola Way, have created a YouTube video using excerpts from the Dec. 8 Lakewood City Council meeting. More than 50 people spoke out against the field at the meeting.

Who would have guessed a proposal for a baseball field would cause such controversy? It's not a Wal-Mart or a Home Depot going up next door.

However, for local residents, it's less about the field itself (although many are not thrilled by the prospect, citing noise and traffic concerns) and more about feeling unfairly treated by the city.

"This isn't about baseball vs. open space, though that is important," said Debra Hansen, president of the Coyote Gulch Homeowner's Association in an e-mail. "It is about ensuring that elected officials listen to their constituents. That matters to everyone."
