The Lakewood Arts Council has declared the MONTH OF OCTOBER as POETRY MONTH. We invite you to submit your original poems in celebration of this event.
THEME: Poems must be on the theme of "the arts". This might include visual arts (drawing, painting, sculpture, fiber arts, photography and digital); performing arts (dance,music, instruments, recitals, productions, theatre, costumes, make-up); people in the arts (composers, artists, theatre/TV, radio personalities); arts facilities; arts events, literary arts (writing, reading, books, poetry); learning the arts (struggles, successes); children and the arts...anything you can think of!
RESTRICTIONS: All poems must be family-friendly to be considered for publication. Poems may be previously published if poet retains the rights. LAC has no copyright protection for poems published on one of its sites.
LENGTH: Maximum length - 30 to 40 lines; no minimum length.
ENTRIES: You may enter as many poems as you wish!
Deadline for entries is September 28, 2009.
Entries must be typed or printed clearly.

WINNING SELECTION:
An LAC committee will select one entry for the "Best Poem" Award. A $25 award will be given to the winner. The winning poem will be published on our LAC BLOG at http://lacpresident.blogspot.com or http://denver.yourhub.com/~LACpresident and in the Nov/Dec issue of our publication "Focus on the Arts". Additional works will be published online on our website or in our Focus publication throughout 2010.
