Q: What would you say are the keys to running a successful business?

A: Great question. It's really not as complex as you might think. Is it easy? No. But does it have to be complex? Also, no. My practice employs the ActionCOACH program called " Six Steps to Massive Results." It's a straightforward approach designed to help you grow your business, maximize profits and create free time to achieve your personal objectives.

The first step or 'level' is called the Mastery Level. Mastery sets the foundation of a successful enterprise that can eventually work without the business owner. Every business must be a master at delivering its product or service with systematic consistency. It must test and measure performance by calculating break-even points and profits. It must measure marketing activities such as the number and origin of leads and conversion rates. It must be focused on all the components of profit for its business type. And it must delegate to well-trained team members.

The end result is efficient time and money management which delivers maximum results for the business and its owner. A key to mastery is profit management. Without sustained profitability, a business cannot grow. I will explore more of the details of profit mastery in future articles as well as the other "Steps to Massive Results".
