This week's selected question:
Q: I believe I understand the principle of leverage. Could you give some examples of how to better use leverage in my business?
A: Great question! Leverage occurs when one can apply less effort and achieves the same or greater results. A perfect example in business is leveraging your people. Having a great team to work on a project rather than just yourself means you get the job done in less time and usually with a greater result. To find out more on how to create and apply Leverage, I highly recommend that you register for the next "6 Steps" workshop coming up on July 24
th and again on the 27
th at Webster University.
Step 3 in the "6 Steps" is
LEVERAGE where you continue to build systems and begin to 'leverage' your people, finances, quality systems and expand your market presence. Ultimately, as the business owner, you begin to leverage your time managing the business more on a strategic level and moving towards the creation of 'passive' income from the business.
Learning to use leverage properly does require education and change. It's one of the cornerstones of my ActionCOACH programs. Successfully applying leverage, in most cases, means 'letting go' of activities and tasks for which you have been responsible. With proper leverage, most businesses experience exponential growth and maturity. As the business matures you gain greater freedom to
do what you want to do when you want to do it!
