Blog Entry 11 of 13 Jewel's Journal
Mom (Gail) took me to an evaluation in February, 2007. On our way there, I tipped my head real cute and asked, "What's an evaluation?" She said Denver Pet Partners was going to see if I can pass the temperament test for therapy dogs. No sweat! I was registered as a therapy dog a few weeks later, and Mom got me a uniform. My little green vest shows people that I've got an important job to do when I'm wearing it. Watch my blog for future entries about how the kids and I are doing!

Learning a little Spanish

Jill (not her real name) red four books to me today. The first was the classic storybook, "Three Little Pigs." Too bad for the wolf.

I can't remember the next two right now. Maybe they will come to me later.

The fourth was a book that was written and illustrated by Joyce Rossi, called " The Gullywasher." In Spanish, the title is "El chaparron torencial." The story was inspired by cowboy poet Jack Walther.

What makes this book special is that it is in both English and Spanish. The top paragraph on each page is in English, and beneath it the same storylines are in Spanish. There is a small glossary in the back of the book which translates several Spanish words, such as vaquero, which means cowboy.

The book is about a little girl named Leticia who asks her grandpa a few questions about how he got to looking the way he does. I am not sure I believe all the expanations the grandfather gives her. It is hard for me to believe that he became bent over by carrying his horse.

You will have to call Borders Books to ask if they have it on their shelves, or go to the Denver Public Library to check out a copy and decide for yourself about the grandfather and the gullywasher.

Talk to ya later,
Jewel
