A political pundit said most of us live life between the 40 yard lines. I'm one of them. Most of the time. Sometimes I'm right of center, sometimes the other way around.

You walk, I'll cross.

I like shopping at the King Soopers and Safeway stores near our house. The stores are clean, the employees friendly and the product availability to American shoppers is the envy of the world.

Both chains are at an impasse with their local employees. Will there be a strike? So far it's just threats but both sides have dug in their heels.

Both stores have a pool of non-union labor more than ready and willing and able to step in to work.

Union members call them scabs. I just call them people who want to work for a living.

I certainly will respect the union employees to strike. It's their right. As for the picket lines, I'll cross them in a heartbeat. That's my right.

If you don't want to work, fine with me. But it won't change for a minute where I shop.

With unemployment at 10% and heading north, good luck getting any consumer sympathy.

You might do better to try negotiating one more time.
