A political pundit said most of us live life between the 40 yard lines. I'm one of them. Most of the time. Sometimes I'm right of center, sometimes the other way around.

There's Free Speech then there's "Not Exactly."

Did you hear the story about the vegetarian car owner who wanted a customized Colorado license plate that read 'ILVTOFU?" (Short for I Love Tofu)

The DMV rejected it because of that last two letters, FU. Ok, I get that part but one would hope the DMV would have at least someone in charge who has just a little common sense.

I know, common sense in government is a rarity. Actually non-existant.

Compare this with former (at least for now) CU Prof Ward Churchill. He took a cheap shot at the thousands of innocent victims of 9-11, essentially saying they deserved to die.

Outrageous? You bet. But the courts upheld his claim for free speech. He'll make a million bucks easy when all is said and done.

So the way it works in Colorado, it's ok to mock the death of innocent victims of terrorism, but heaven forbid you love Tofu!

I guess I won't apply for my FUWARD license plate.
