Blog Entry 6 of 54 The Lakewood Lowdown
Hi, I'm Erin Feese, a community journalist here at YourHub.com.
As journalists, we are always seeking to uncover the newsy, the exciting, the weird and the heartwarming stories going on around us. The greatest part of YourHub.com is that you can be the one to tell your story. In this blog you'll find highlights of the Lakewood and Edgewater sites, as well as the musings of your friendly neighborhood journalist. So go ahead, uncover what's going on around you, and don't be afraid to share what you find.

Events to spice up your weekend

Hey Lakewood, so what do you have planned for the weekend? If you don't have anything going on, YourHub.com is here for you.

On Friday, I plan on checking out the Broncos Basketball Benefit game at Lakewood High School. A team of Broncos players will compete against a team made up of students, staff and teachers from Lakewood. What better way to see some Broncos action during the off-season?? Tickets are $8 and all proceeds benefit the Lakewood High School After Prom. Basketball, Broncos and a good cause -- sweet.

I'll admit it -- I'm a sucker for garage sales. So on Saturday, I might stroll over to the Jeffco Action Center's Beautiful Junk sale, which sounds like it's going to be one HUGE garage sale. All that junk, ripe for the pickin'. Admission is just $1. And need I add, all the proceeds from the sale support the Jeffco Action Center?

Another thing that sounds like a blast is the Iron Chef Competition at Whole Foods Belmar. The Iron Chef TV show has always amazed me -- how did they create such stunning, delcious dishes out of eel or fish heads? (I saw one where they made salmon ice cream. Hmm. I'll pass.) Here's your chance to see it live. Catch the first round on Saturday and the semifinals and finals on Sunday. And the best part -- it's free!
