President Reagan used the phrase often, especially when dealing with the former Soviet Union. It's one of the reasons it's called the former Soviet Union.

It was decidely an analog world back then.

But his words, are words to the wise, when dealing with the world of Web 2.0 especially if you frequent social websites like Facebook or MySpace, Twitter or look for old and new professional contacts on sites like linkedin.com.

You do know who your Internet friends are, or do you?

Don't get me wrong, these websites are great fun and I use many of them. But so do scammers. Scammers are very tech savvy.

So when someone new comes a long and wants to be your new friend online, trust but verify.
