Twitter Punditry

I continue to read, almost daily about whether or not Twitter is here to stay or is simply a fad. The CB radio of Web 2.0.

Twitter can be impactful. As I've blogged before, getting news out of Iran was a good example. And yes, I Twitter myself.

But critics say it's simply the tech du jour, people burn out quickly after signing up and others simply get sick or tired or hearing about a friend picking up their laundry then picking up a latte.

Z-z-z-z-z.

Critics say it's the hot thing, until the next hot thing comes along. Look at MySpace. Once hot, now hot talk is about all the layoffs the company is making. That's because FaceBook came along.

Hot and cold happen quickly these days, literally at the speed of light.

Ultimately whether Twitter lives on depends on one thing.

Revenue. Or the lack thereof.

We'll see.
