Phony Phishing Scams

This past weekend I got 4 e-mails claiming to be from eBay. I like to buy and sell stuff on eBay so obviously they caught my attention.

The e-mails told me that I'd actually won some auctions as bidders ahead of me didn't pay.

Having done a lot of business with eBay as a member, and also a bit of an expert because of our "Learn eBay" tutorial, I smelled something fishy.

Not the least of which is I had no current bids on anything!

I forwarded the e-mails to eBay who quickly responded that it's yet another "phishing"scam by people simply looking to steal personal information from me.

As uncertain as our economy is right now, scammers are out in force, phishing for victims.

Be careful. Never, ever respond to any e-mails asking you to click various links, or provide personal information.
