I know what you're thinking. "All this old guy had to do was to take what he had already written, chop it up, and he had over 140 blogs. Boy, that was easy for him." Wrong.
It may seem that way but this was a complete rewrite job. For instance, when I finished the "Write a Book in a Month" assignment, I had written 50,683 words. When I finished the blog last night, I had 56,451 words and I had almost completely edited out one character and a couple of episodes. In all, I'd estimate that I added approximately 7,500 words during the rewrite and posting.
I asked for help when I began the blog. Well, I got it in the form of developing a strategy that will lead me into the next step and that I believe will bring the whole thing closer to a publishable book. I have never read or heard of anything like it. Of course, until two years ago, I had never hear of writing a book in a month. Working on this project has given me a whole new perspective on novels, writing novels, and finally turning a rough novel into the best that I am capable of at the moment. It might just do the same thing for you.
When writing a 50,000 word book in 30 days, especially starting out with no characters, no beginning, no end, and most important of all, no middle, what result would you expect to come up with? Well, I not only know what it's like but I also know the personal lessons that can be learned from doing it.
If you're interested, hang in there and I'll share them with you.
