A fall day in Lakewood
Contributed by: Erin Feese/YourHub.com   on 9/27/2007

Sept. 27 was a day that made me forget that I'm sad that summer is over and really enjoy the crisp fall weather. A perfect day to head to the farmer's market, I thought.

With bins overflowing with colorful fall produce, the merchants at the Heritage Center Farmer's Market in Lakewood were eager to chat about their bounty. Christina Marchese, with Domenico Farms in Welby, Colo, recommended the fall squash. She said the best way to prepare it was to bake it in the oven with a little brown sugar and butter. Yum!

Marchese also recommended her crop of orange cauliflower, which is sweeter than regular cauliflower.

Welby is a small farming community in unincorporated Adams County, and Domenico Farms has been a family-owned operation for years, and is now run by Marchese's uncle, she said.

It was also a great day for a stroll in the park, and so I captured a few shots of Belmar Park while I was in the area. Fall is beautiful!

I did think about trying it, but I am not a huge fan of regular cauliflower ... it sure looked pretty though!

That orange cauliflower looks nummo. It's hue is reminiscent of cheese. Did you try it?
