Sept. 27 was a day that made me forget that I'm sad that summer is over and really enjoy the crisp fall weather. A perfect day to head to the farmer's market, I thought.
With bins overflowing with colorful fall produce, the merchants at the Heritage Center Farmer's Market in Lakewood were eager to chat about their bounty.
Christina Marchese
, with Domenico Farms in Welby, Colo, recommended the fall squash. She said the best way to prepare it was to bake it in the oven with a little brown sugar and butter. Yum!
Marchese also recommended her crop of orange cauliflower, which is sweeter than regular cauliflower.
Welby is a small farming community in unincorporated Adams County, and Domenico Farms has been a family-owned operation for years, and is now run by Marchese's uncle, she said.
It was also a great day for a stroll in the park, and so I captured a few shots of Belmar Park while I was in the area. Fall is beautiful!

I did think about trying it, but I am not a huge fan of regular cauliflower ... it sure looked pretty though!

That orange cauliflower looks nummo. It's hue is reminiscent of cheese. Did you try it?
