Blog Entry 5 of 8 Jewel's Journal
Mom (Gail) took me to an evaluation in February, 2007. On our way there, I tipped my head real cute and asked, "What's an evaluation?" She said Denver Pet Partners was going to see if I can pass the temperament test for therapy dogs. No sweat! I was registered as a therapy dog a few weeks later, and Mom got me a uniform. My little green vest shows people that I've got an important job to do when I'm wearing it. Watch my blog for future entries about how the kids and I are doing!

When a mouse mixes paint
Contributed by: Jewel Underfoot Kirkegaard   on 10/9/2008

Jill read a colorful book to me yesterday. I learned what happens when three mice mix yellow with blue, red with yellow, and blue with red.

The stupid little rodents dunked themselves into pots of paint. This proves that dachshunds aren't the silliest creatures after all. When they came out of their pots, they noticed that one mouse was now blue, one was red, and the other was yellow.

To make things more interesting, the mice took turns stirring up the paint puddles left from overturning the paint pots. The blue mouse stirred up the red paint puddle, and discovered that he made purple! The red mouse danced in the yellow paint, and turned his feet orange! The yellow mouse slid around in the blue paint, and found out that when you mix blue and yellow you get green!

My first picture shows me paying very close attention to Jill as she reads all about the mouse color experiments. The next one shows the cover of the book. You can get it for $5.95 at Amazon.com.

Jill also read Windy Day, a story about a mother and children who wash the laundry and hang it outside to dry. The little girl washed her stuffed bunny rabbit and hung him up on the line. The wind began to blow and things were scattered!

Then Jill started to read a big chapter book, about Arthur. I have a third picture, which shows me waiting patiently for Jill to return from the bathroom to finish her book. Jill is good at sounding out new words, and she found several of them in this book. We didn't have time to finish Arthur, so I will have to tell you how it goes next week!
