My Thanksgiving tradition

I can't believe Thanksgiving is only about a week away. The holidays sure do sneak up on you, don't they? Not that I'm complaining -- Thanksgiving is so fun. It's great to have close family and friends in one place, sitting down to chat and share a meal.
My family has a fun Thanksgiving tradition that we always look forward to. I don't know exactly where it originated, but it is fondly referred to as "The Game." All dinner guests bring some sort of inexpensive prize, a white elephant if you will, preferably wrapped. At the start of The Game, all prizes are put into the center of the table, and a set of dice is passed around. If you roll a 7 or 11, you get to pick a prize.
When the prizes are gone, then the fun begins. The wrapping paper come off, so you know exactly what goodies you've scored (or what you hope you can get rid of -- my dad once unwrapped a pair of boxers with glow-in-the-dark lips on them. It was hilarious ).
A designated person then sets a timer for an amount of time (usually about 15-20 minutes, but only they know the exact amount) and the dice goes around the table again, only this time, if you roll a 7 or 11, you can steal your choice of prize.
If there is a popular item (usually, chocolate or Sour Patch Kids are a hot commodity with my fam) this part of the game can get pretty exciting. Also, you know how siblings are: they always have to one-up one another, so my brothers and I get pretty competitive.
As a kid, this was always my favorite part of Thanksgiving. (Well, and mashed potatoes).
Happy Turkey Day!
