What do you do on a holiday? Me, I revamp my blog. I'm tired of writing 50,000 words in 30 days and going through boxes of stuff I've written 50,000 years ago. I'm tired of diaries. I'll leave them to Bridget Jones. So I've decided to tell you just what's on my mind. A new year (well, new if I skip the first five months), a new job (that doesn't require a new wardrobe), and a new writing challenge. My zit journal.
The zit journal will be a part of my brain workouts that will be conducted in my brain gym. I've spent the better part of this year cleaning up my apartment so I have room to install my brain gym, something every guy over 70 who's too old for a black book should have.
I've finally cleaned up a three by five space on my kitchen table and installed small pile of Sudoku challenges that I have ripped out of papers and magazines. I've gone through Google making notes on Sudoku strategies and now I'm well on my way to becoming a Sudoku expert. At last count I've finished over 50 Sudoku puzzles and, so far, haven't gotten one of them right. But, as the old saying goes, "You can't win them all."
I've got paper hats, noise makers, and even a bottle of Champagne that has gone flat from waiting for me to correctly complete the first puzzle. Some day it will happen. In the meantime, have a happy holiday.
