A political pundit said most of us live life between the 40 yard lines. I'm one of them. Sometimes I'm right of center, sometimes the other way around.

Bailout is Bullsh*t
Contributed by: Brian Olson   on 9/23/2008

I'm taking a couple of days off 'cause the grandkids are visiting and in the rare times I'm not dealing with a 3 year old and a 6 month old, I've been watching coverage of the bailout hearings.

Essentially we're being asked to underwrite $700 Billion in loans to Wall Street. Unless we do so asap, the world as we know it will come to an end. Or so we're being told.

It works out to about $10,000 per family.

No one in the Senate appears to be buying any of this, and neither am I. I need a few questions answered first.

1. Who exactly is getting this money?

2. Are we essentially bailing out Wall Street Billionaires?

3. How in the heck did AIG become so big and so powerful the fate of our nation rests on whether it fails?

4. How much did the CEO of AIG make last year? How many corporate jets do they have?

5. What are our guarantees on ROI? (Return on investment)

6. What are the punishments for the Wall Street bankers, loan sharks and deal makers who got us into this mess?

7. Are we bailing out people who bought homes they had no business buying? And the moron bankers who lent them the money? Are those of us who pay our bills on time and live within our means being punished for doing so?

So many questions. And absolutely no answers.

The "Pucker Factor" on this deal rates about 12 on a scale of 1-10.

I want to see some heads on pikes on Wall Street before one penny leaves the treasury.

In the meantime, we're stocking up on mason jars. The best place for our money it seems, is buried in the backyard.
