Lakewood 10-year-old proposes skiing legislation
Contributed by: Erin Feese/YourHub.com   on 3/18/2008

A student from Dennison Elementary School proved this week that you're never to young to get involved with politics.

Avid skier William Kane, 10, thought it would be great if skiiing and snowboarding could be recognized as the official winter sports of Colorado. So he contacted Rep. Gwyn Green (D-Golden/Lakewood), who encouraged the youngster to start a petition. William, with the help of twin brother Matthew, gathered 80 signatures.

William and his entire fourth-grade class visited the Capitol on March 17 to help Rep. Green introduce the resolution. The measure passed through the House, and if the Senate passes it, the sports will join square dancing as the only activities honored by the state, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette.
