Blog Entry 2 of 2 Lakewood Mayoral Race 2007
Rita B: I'm opening this blog as an area to address questions about the City of Lakewood and the upcoming election in a more organized and comprehensive fasion for readers.

The Rita Report, News from the Campaign Trail Wk1
Contributed by: Rita Bertolli   on 10/5/2007

Well, boy am I tired! We just finished off the first week of October, in the throws of a significant Mayoral race in Lakewood, and I have to say THANK YOU to all the people out there that are making this election a wonderful experience.

Our signs are making it to the front yards of hundred and hundreds of homes. We have raised almost $20,000 all from individual donations--and I'm very warmed to see all of the active citizenry really feeling good about a new direction for the City administration. We're running strong, and the hopes are high for a positive change that will bring Lakewood back to representing citizens, fight for responsible growth, and foster a government of accountability, service, and innovation for a sustainable future.

This week has been good. The campaign office is receiving more calls than it can handle, our yard signs are depleated!, we've gone through thousands of flyers (you would never guess how many!!!), the Channel 8 debate went extremely well, and there is a true sense of comradery among everyone involved.

Our message is resounding with the people of Lakewood. That's very important.

How can you speak of responsible growth when you live in your parents basement. Go to school, learn what the real world is actually about, then try to change it.

I agree, watch the debates. The Lakewood.org website is a great information resource for concerned citizens and has the debate online whenever you like. You can also find out about things like budgets, cultural events, board and commission applications. This is a great citizen service provided by city administration.

I encourage anyone who did not see the debates to tune into cable channel 8, to see the debates for themselves. Channel 8 is repeating the debates daily and they are very informative, from the Mayoral candidates, to all the council races. There is a great amount of information to be obtained from these debates, and I hope all of you get a chance to tune in! This is an important election this year in Lakewood, and I hope that everyone out there educates themselves and makes an informed decision. And most importantly, let your voice be heard and vote.
