2008 voter information cards in the mail
Contributed by: Pamela Anderson   on 6/24/2008

(Golden) - Today, County Clerk and Recorder Pam Anderson announced that voters should expect updated 2008 voter information cards to arrive in their mailboxes in the next couple weeks. The card contains information regarding your voter registration, voting districts, and a listing of your precinct polling location, early voting locations, and even mail-in ballot drop-off locations. By law, voter information cards are not required to be sent out until October 10 th, but it has been the practice in Jefferson County to send this information out early to also prepare voters for the August 12 th Primary Election.

"We like to get this mailing out to voters in early summer because it gives us an opportunity to provide them with Primary Election information as well, which can help to improve overall awareness," Anderson said. "It provides quite a bit of information for voters, so it's something they should definitely keep an eye out for, and hold onto once they get it," she added.

In addition to voting and ballot drop-off locations, the Jefferson County mailing contains information on how to become an election judge (pollworker) for the August Primary and/or November Presidential Election. Voters can fill out and tear off a postage-paid card to sign up as an election judge and send it back to the Clerk and Recorder's Office.

Voters who have not already applied for a mail-in ballot for the 2008 elections will be provided with an application as part of this mailing. If they would like to apply for a mail-in ballot, all they need to do is fill out the application and send it back in. This application may be used to sign up as a permanent mail-in voter if desired, a trend that is growing rapidly in Jefferson County, as well as most of the Front Range. There are already over 150,000 permanent mail-in voters in Jefferson County, and this number is expected to continue to rise as many voters capitalize on the convenience of mail-in voting.

"This is another great opportunity for voters to sign up to have a paper ballot delivered by mail for the Primary, General, or all future Jefferson County elections," said Anderson. "It gives them another chance to vote from the convenience of home."
