Blog Entry 8 of 9 Affiliate's Blog - Home Entrepreneurship, Shopping
I am a resident of Lakewood, Colorado and I operate a business online called the Affiliate Marketing Resource Center. I can discuss local issues, national concerns or anything of interest to anyone in the community. See my profile where I have listed my websites and categories where I do business. I am an affiliate marketer, and a full time UPS driver in downtown Denver. I make money selling other people's stuff, but I do not buy things and bring them to my home or office. I do not ship things, but I do get paid for selling stuff on websites that I design. I also utilize web 2.0 sites that have applications which are affiliate marketing friendly. I live in Lakewood co, but my free business opportunity is open to virtually anyone, anywhere in the free world. Visit www.bblmedia.com which is my main site which lays out the basics for joining affiliate programs and networks. I also recommend that new affiliate marketers join several good web 2.0 communities such as this one here.

Rocktober trademark filed, blogger has domain
Contributed by: Franklin Banker   on 10/22/2007

There is a lot of talk recently and news articles about the term "Rocktober." In fact, the Rockies organization has filed an application to own the term for themselves. Here is a recent news story asserting this fact - > Rockies trying to trademark the expression, Rocktober.

One big problem is that there is an existing domain called www.Rocktober.com that is the blogging headquarters for one Randy Reiss. go ahead, look it up and see. I wonder if Randy has already applied for the trademark? Sure would be an interesting story if he had.

I wish I owned that domain right now. Especially if the Rockies win the series. I am sure it would sell for a tidy sum. Randy may have a gold mine on his hands! Being at the right place at the right time.

Be sure to stop in and visit the new Colorado Rockies Store on my domain, where the term Rocktober does not appear. Have a great day everyone!

Good news / Bad news This guy owning a domain has nothting to do with the Rockies claim....because unless he's used it in commerce...he can't claim it as a trademark. sorry guy. But this points out the real flaw, neither can the Rockies. Rather than accepting their fans compliment...the attempt to trademark their cheer is absolute business office hubris. Besides, most every oldies stations in the US, and atleast one 80's movie has used that them. The Rockies can file for whatever they want -- but you can't trademark an expression. I've written a more literate post of these ideas at: http://usefularts.us/2007/10/25/colorado-rockies-cant-have-rocktober-trademark-sorry-guys/
