The Perils of PowerPoint (NOT)
Contributed by: John Scherer   on 8/13/2008

Back in the early days of silent film there was a serial, "The Perils of Pauline." Many who are called upon to present a Power Point presentation at work know how Pauline felt. Yet she always perservered.

Of course, that was the movies and happy endings were the rule of the day. In business, not so much.

Microsoft's Power Point remains a key tool in the work place. "Employees need to learn a technical skill to carry out a job task, a PowerPoint presentation, for example," writes John Wright in his article, "An MBA is just the beginning."

You'll note how I described PowerPoint as a tool. It's a way to help make your point, whether in a sales presentation or new product roll-out. It's only as good as what you put into it, and of course, your own presentation skills.

But if you know all that PowerPoint can do, you can really dazzle your audiences. It's one of the computer skills that really gets noticed at review time. Or on your resume.
