Blog Entry 85 of 154 Computing and you!
What's going on in computing, why it's important to master the productivity software on your computer and how to harness the power your computer provides you at work and in your home.

Kudos to USA Today
Contributed by: John Scherer   on 10/13/2008

The folks over at USA Today, especially the Tech Section are doing a great job publishing articles in print and on-line about how scammers and phishers are trying to take advantage of the current economic situation.

You're going to see an increase in e-mails, very official looking, claiming to be from your bank or broker. There will of course be a link for you to click on to "verify" information.

Other scams will have ways to safely place your savings in "secure" accounts, again with links for you to click on. They'll lead you to very official looking websites.

Click, you lose.

I can't blame anyone for being more than a little worried these days. Your banks and brokers have established and secure ways for you to reach them. Use them.

For everything else, the handiest key on your computer is the "delete" key. Use it.
