Frankly, I'm glad all the hoopla of the conventions is over and I can settle in for a weekend of football. Enough is enough.
Ok, I'm a boomer and remember watching political conventions on one of the three networks, my pick always being Walter Cronkite. But a very few choices other than the local paper.
But this time around, I got just about all my coverage, news and perceived news from Web 2.0. Traditional news websites, political blogs and interactive pages where I could watch coverage on demand.
Sadly there was also a lot of misinformation out there. Just because it's out there on the Net doesn't make it true. But people believe what they want to.
Like I blogged about YourHub earlier this week, it's all very empowering overall. I got to choose coverage, not a producer in New York. Although back in the Cronkite days I would have chosen Walter and company over the Net if both existed at the same time. Well, maybe I would have peaked at the Net.
But Walter is retired. The Net is now. And forever. Long live the Blog!
That said, I still include TV, especially FOX & Friends. They have found just the right balance of great reporting, making the news meaningful on Main Street and simply having great guests. And a special thanks to Brian Kilmeade and Karl Rove for the nice mention of yours truly this week!
It's been such great fun to watch all this evolve and develop since I first starting selling computers
over
two decades ago

And I can't wait to see what's next.
