"China: The Other Side"

What:	NEXT › ‹ PREVIOUS Join Colorado Christian University's Library faculty this Friday 8/22 at 7 pm to meet award-winning photographer, Cheryl Opperman, of Littleton. Ms. Opperman's exhibit titled, "China: The Other Side" is on display through December 15, 2008, in the Clifton Fowler Library. Later in November Ms. Opperman will present a slide show and discuss her trip to China (Wednesday, November 5, 7:00 p.m, CCU Music Building). "China: The Other Side" offers a rare window to the beauty of China's rural landscape and the warmth of its people. The exhibit includes vivid images that chronicle Opperman's five-week journey through the villages of South China, documenting life along the rivers and among native people in remote villages with no running water, and showing a lifestyle not often seen by the Western world. Opperman's opportunity to shoot in China arose when she won the grand prize trip to Hong Kong from the Ultimate Image of Earth international contest for Earth Day 2000. Opperman's body of work employs the power of photography to inspire public interest in environmental issues and other cultures. Her images have been displayed in solo and group exhibitions across the country, including at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. Colorado Christian University is located at 8787 W. Alameda Avenue and the best entrance to the library is from Garrison Street onto Cedar Street.
