Spice It Up!
Custom Designed
Hands-On Workshops

Art Ventures, the City of Lakewood's outreach program, provides educational art workshops to support the visual and performing arts. Innovative custom-designed workshops are offered to school and community groups of all ages and abilities to enhance thematic subjects, academic studies and classroom content standards.
See through the eyes of master painters, or explore diverse pottery across the world. We can design programs for a specific celebration or in conjunction with exhibits or performances. ArtVentures can create a workshop specific to your needs and focus area or choose from previously designed programs. Art Ventures can be presented in our space or yours!

Experience the difference with one of our unique programs!

Reconstructed Elements
Looking at spatial relations and conceptual art, participants learn the art of using everyday objects to create large-scale sculptures! Non-traditional tools and creative problem solving demonstrates how everyone is an artist and that the possibilities are endless.

Following Christo & Jeanne-Claude
Christo and Jeanne-Claude are world-renowned sculptors who have created beautiful, temporary installations such as The Gates in New York and The Riffle Gap here in Colorado. Their next proposed work is Over the River scheduled for Salida and Canyon City in 2010. Participants are exposed to the innovative concepts of these extraordinary artists and work as a group in exploring all aspects and development of contemporary public artworks.

Earthworks
Use the earth to make art! Looking at the great works of art since prehistoric times, participants learn how to make site-specific large-scale sculptures using nature as the canvas!

Colors of Ancient Civilizations
Explore the art and colors of cultures across the world in this lively and in-depth investigational workshop. Participants see firsthand how societies used natural resources and pigments indigenous to their lands to help to tell the stories of their times.
