Cooks can don their chef hats and win prizes and bragging rights every month at The Market at Belmar. Contestants should bring their seasonal pie(s), along with a $5 entry fee per pie, to the Chef Demo Tent on West Alaska Drive in Belmar (Wadsworth and Alameda) at noon on the first Sunday from June through September. Audience participants will serve as judges.
Each month will feature a different seasonal pie or cobbler based on the following schedule:
June 3 Rhubarb or Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie
July 1 Cherry Pie
August 5 Peach Pie or Cobbler
September 2 Apple Pie or Cobbler
All contestants will receive a participation prize and one winner will receive a $20 gift certificate to The Market at Belmar and a blue ribbon. In addition to the cooking contest, The Market at Belmar sells fruits and vegetables and has activities for the entire family including chef demonstrations, an urban gardening series, free and open bocce, and pancake breakfasts to benefit Alameda High School.
