Second Annual EWB Sand Sculpture Contest
Contributed by: Denver Chapter of Engineers Without Borders on 4/24/2008

What:
The Second Annual Sand Sculpture Contest is the main annual fundraiser for the Denver Chapter of Engineers Without Borders. The 2007contest was held at Belmar Park in Lakewood in conjunction with Lakewood on Parade and the effort raised money that supported two implementation trips to our water and sanitation projects in Ecuador and Togo, Africa.

Up to 30 teams will each be provided with 3 cubic yards of sand piled within a 10 x 10 foot square; they will have about 4.5 hours to sculpt a sand-creation which will be judged by various criteria, including the "People's Choice" award - come and vote for your favorite sculpture and have a fun day on the beach!!! There is a daily park admission fee.

You can enter your own team - the entry fee is $500 for corporate teams and $150 (minimum) for non-profits. Contact EWB-Denver ( www.ewbdenver.org) for an entry form/brochure . Entry deadline is July 25th. Rules will be posted on the EWB Denver website on or about May 15th. ONLY 30 SLOTS AVAILABLE, ENTER EARLY!!! You don't have to be an engineering firm to enter.

The trophies might be a bit tacky, but the bragging rights for the winners are PRICELESS.
