Wine and Dine with Friends of the Jefferson Symphony
at the 12th Annual Colorado Chefs Cooking Classic
This year's annual culinary fundraising extravaganza will begin at 6 p.m. on May 16, 2006 with silent auction bidding. The Jefferson Symphony will be one of 13 non-profit organizations participating in this food and wine tasting event sponsored by the Colorado Chefs Association and the Colorado Beef Council.
Elise Wiggins, Chef at Panzano's and Colorado's Chef of the Year will lead the Jefferson Symphony team. Tickets are $50 ($40 is tax deductible) and may be purchased from the Jefferson Symphony Office, 303.278.4237. The John Q. Hammons Convention Center at the Holiday Inn DIA will host.
"Color Me a Cooking Classic" is this year's theme: "Black Coffee" has been chosen by the Jefferson Symphony to be reflected in its decorations, food and drink. Each team is comprised of a Colorado chef, Elise Wiggins for the Jefferson Symphony; a celebrity, Stephanie Riggs of Channel 4 News and a non-profit organization. The teams will compete for additional cash prizes for the best food and decorations exemplifying their theme.
Executive Chef Michael DeGiovanni, chairman of this year's event believes that this annual Cooking Classic "...provides a unique way for Colorado culinarians to have a little friendly competition and make a positive contribution to the Colorado community." He continues "In the last 11 years, this event has raised over $1,000,000 to support non-profit causes."
Other non-profit organizations participating with the Jefferson Symphony are: Arvada Child Advocacy Center, Conflict Center, Lost and Found, Colorado Youth Symphony, Boulder Broadway Theatre Company, Highlands Ranch Rotary Club, Pegasus Program, Denver International Program, Radio Reading Service of the Rockies, International Food Service Executives, Littleton Main Street Players, and the Colorado Chefs Association Educational Foundation.
