Incredible Archaeology in the Rio Grande Basin
Contributed by: Denver Chapter of the Colorado Archaeological Society on 6/29/2008

What:

Free Archaeology Lecture: Chris Bevilacqua, R.P.A. of RMC Consultants, Inc. will discuss archaeology of the Rio Grande Basin of south-central Colorado that has long been of interest to archaeologists. In 1999 the Colorado Council of Professional Archaeologists published a context that provides an overview of the region's prehistoric archaeology and a framework for future research. Since then, recent surveys have inventoried thousands of acres and hundreds of sites in the area. This paper presents an overview of some of this recent work, contrasts the archaeology from opposite sides of the Basin, and discusses some of the important research issues of the region.
