Description:

Depression's presence

There are 350 million individuals worldwide suffering, most of them silently, from depression. Included in that number are 19 million Americans. Of all the people who visit a physician of internal medicine, 1 in 3 is depressed. Depression costs more than $70 billion annually in treatment, disability, and lost productivity. And depression's incidence is increasing!

What causes depression

There are over 100 factors causing depression, but most of these factors fall into 1 of 10 categories. These 10 "hits" are: genetic, developmental, lifestyle, circadian rhythm, addiction, nutrition, toxins, stress or grief, medical condition, and frontal lobe. Most people who are depressed have a combination of 4 hits.

An 8-week Depression Recovery Program is being sponsored by the Golden Adventist Church and Nedley Health Solutions and will be held for 8 consecutive Tuesdays at 7:00 pm starting September 11.

The program will cover topics such as: nine questions for determining if someone has depression, how to depression-proof your children, the secret weapon that helps treat depression and 90% of all diseases, how nutrition benefits the brain, how to kick the misery out of kicking any harmful habit, and the detriments of a comprised frontal lobe.

Who should attend

The seminar is directed toward people who are depressed or those who have family members or friends who are depressed; however, it is not just for people who are clinically depressed and on prescription medicine. People who are looking to make a lifestyle change for the better will find this program valuable. Of those who had been on antidepressants, 90 percent became depression-free by following this program's guidelines!

Free information session

For a preview of the program and how it works, a free informational session will be held on Tuesday, August 28 at 7:00 pm. Registration information and further details are at www.goldencosda.org.
