Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? It is time to take control!
Seniors' Resource Center Family Care Specialist Linda Rowlison and Senior Reach Wellness Specialist Elaine Feldhaus are teaming up to present a series of workshops titled "Healthier Living: Managing Ongoing Health Conditions".
This program is designed for anyone coping with a chronic health condition and/or anyone who feels they might benefit from learning to: fight fatigue, cope with depression, control pain, manage stress & relax, eat well, start a physical activity program, manage medications, and find effective ways to deal with health care providers.
The program consists of six consecutive weeks of classes, with each session lasting 2 ½ hours.
An informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 23rd from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in order to help you find out more about the class and to help you decide if you want to sign up for the six week program.
Classes will be held at the Wheat Ridge Senior/Community Center (6363 W. 35th Ave.) from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the following dates: Sept. 30th, Oct. 7th, Oct. 14th, Oct. 21st, Oct. 28th, and Nov. 4th
The cost of the class is $12 for Wheat Ridge residents and $17 for non-residents. This cost includes a copy of the book Living a Health Life with Chronic Conditions and a copy of the CD Time for Healing.
If cost would prevent you from attending the class, scholarships may be available. Please inquire when registering for the class.
The Healthier Living program is developed by Stanford University in cooperation with Kaiser Permanente. Recent research shows that this class is effective in helping people manage their ongoing health issues and make improvements.
To register, please contact the Wheat Ridge Senior Center at 303-205-7500. If you have questions about the class, please contact Linda Rowlison at 303-235-6961.
Since 1978, Seniors' Resource Center, a private non-profit organization, has worked to preserve and maximize the independence and personal dignity of older adults in order to help them live more comfortably in their own home as they age.
Last year, 13,000 individuals across ten counties were served through its Adult Day & Respite Services, In-Home Care, Transportation, Care Management, referrals to community partners, and Job Training programs.
