Realtors give back to community

The Jefferson County Association of REALTORS (JCAR) recently donated $5,000 to the Seniors' Resource Center and $10,000 to the Jeffco Action Center. In 2006 the JCAR Board of Directors made a three-year commitment to donate $20,000 to the Seniors' Resource Center (SRC) capital campaign. The SRC's goal is to raise $6,299,230 to renovate and expand the agency's main Wheat Ridge facility. The new facility will include a new building to house the Adult Day and Respite Services program, including 16 new assisted living rooms for overnight respite service and long-term care. Lincoln Gill, Broker One Real Estate and past chairman of JCAR, recently presented the SRC with the final $5,000 payment on the $20,000 commitment. The funds were raised through JCAR brokers who participate in CARHOF - Colorado Association of REALTORS Housing Opportunity Fund.

JCAR Director Dave Pike, Coldwell Banker, presented a $10,000 contribution to the Jeffco Action Center (JAC) at the organization's recent 40 th birthday celebration. The Jeffco Action Center provides assistance to families and individuals to help them overcome difficult circumstances that impact their ability to become or remain self-sufficient. The JAC programs include a homeless shelter, food bank, clothing bank, and rental, utility and medical assistance. The funds provided by JCAR are earmarked for the housing programs.

Since 1993 the Jefferson County Association of REALTORS has donated almost $34,000 to the Jeffco Action Center. Total contributions since 1993 to organizations meeting the housing needs in Jefferson County have exceeded $266,000. CARHOF funds are provided by participating REALTOR offices who voluntarily establish interest bearing trust accounts. The interest proceeds from these accounts are automatically paid to CARHOF by the financial institutions that maintain the trust account.
