Camille Ryckman is running for House District 22 and answered a questionnaire for YourHub.com. To read all of the candidate questionnaires, click here.

My name:Camille Ryckman

My age: 38

My Family:Cory Ryckman, Husband; Emma Ryckman 7 years old, Daughter; Harper Ryckman 6 years old, Daughter

Education: Bear Creek High '88; Metro State '94
What I do: Mother and active volunteer at Bear Creek K8 as well as current PTA President at Bear Creek

My favorite place in town to hang out: Walking in the Green Belt with my family and enjoying dinner at Cafe Jordano

What I like most about living here: My husband and I both grew up in this area. My parents live five blocks away from us; Cory's parents live one block away. We love our neighborhood and want our children to feel like this is a place for them to come back to to raise their children.

My interests and hobbies: Reading, Hanging out with my family, Politics and Government, and working at my girls' school.

My favorite thing to cook: Green Chile - it's my grandma's recipe and my husband's favorite meal.

People who inspire me (and how): My mom and my grandma. These are two of the smartest and most compassionate women I know. They inspire me by their life examples; my grandma worked while raising five amazing children and still found time to be active in her church community. My grandma continues to amaze me by volunteering each week in her community and keeping busy and active with family and friends. My mom is the strongest example to me that working for change is a true gift. She has always supported me and encouraged me to be an involved and active community member.

How I have contributed to the community: I taught Social Studies as a teacher at Warren Tech High School in the Integrated Academics program for five years and am currently the PTA president at Bear Creek K8.

The biggest issues facing us now: Growth of our energy economy and making sure that our children have access to smart energy. Protecting our most vulnerable citizens with a strong health care system. Making sure that our schools will adequately prepare children for 21st century jobs.

Why I am running: To keep our neighborhood as a place where families can grow, and to be an example to our children; that they too can be an important part of change in their own communities.
