SHOWCASE YOUR TALENT FOR AN AUDIENCE OF THOUSANDS!
Colorado Dragon Boat Festival Announces Call for Performers
Whether you're a dancer, a singer, a musician or a performer, the 2008 Colorado Dragon Boat Festival (CDBF) needs you! "Applications" are now being accepted for this year's Colorado Dragon Boat Festival Performing Arts stage. With a record attendance of 105,000 last year, this is your chance to perform and show off your talent in front of an audience of thousands, literally!
The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival's Performing Arts stage showcases authentic traditional and contemporary forms of performing arts that represent Colorado's diverse Asian Pacific American (APA) communities in order to help bridge cultures through artistic expression. The CDBF is seeking performers who can help make this year new and even more exciting to audiences of all backgrounds!
Celebrating its 8th year, the CDBF is a free, family-friendly festival highlighting Colorado's rich Asian Pacific American heritage, July 26-27 at Sloan's Lake Park in northwest Denver. The two-day celebration provides a window to the Pan Asian world. This diverse festival is the only one of its kind in the United States, and showcases an array of traditional and contemporary performing arts, cultural customs, cuisine and a marketplace of unique and hard-to-find arts, crafts and vendors. This year, the CDBF will host the 2008 American Dragon Boat Association Regional Races, bringing national and international dragon boat teams together to compete in division races on both days.
For those who would like to step on to the stage, please submit an online application and send a short video recording of the performance on VHS video, DVD, or music CD for review by the CDBF performance selection committee. Please note that all interested participants must send in an audition recording for consideration.
Deadline to provide your audition and application is April 11, 2008. Please note that performing groups will not be considered without an audition recording. The audition recording needs to be postmarked prior to the April 11, 2008 deadline. Audition recordings will not be returned unless specifically requested with a returned stamped envelope.
Each 2008 CDBF performance will be a minimum of 20 minutes and a maximum of 25 minutes in length. Performers will be featured in the Festival program book and on the festival web site, and will be paid a $250 honorarium on the day of the event. The Performing Arts stage emcees will include members of Denver's Asian media!
