Christian suffered an in-utero stroke. He spent the first eleven years of his life deal with the consequences and has persevered throughout it all. Today, he is a normal, intelligent, compassionate and funny young man.

Christian Loucks, a sixth grader at Bear Creek Elementary. He can spend hours building structures from Legos, and has even programmed a Lego robot to do various tasks. Christian could one day become a robotics engineer because of his highly inventive mind.

Christian's mother, Mary Loucks, researched different learning programs that would either enhance or result in the integration of structured neurological pathways, and determined that KUMON could provide what Christian needed.

Mary felt the daily math problems of KUMON would uniquely assist Christian who struggled with some learning disabilities. She believed it would provide the frequency, intensity and duration she was looking for to further develop healthy dendritic branching within the brain. So far, it has been most advantageous.

In the beginning of his KUMON study, Christian was not thrilled with the idea of having what he felt was 'extra work' each morning. He fought against it each session. After watching his progress over the past year, he is now appreciative of the program.

"As parents, we have noticed that as Christian improves in his KUMON math, he simultaneously does better with his classroom math and his attitude has certainly become more positive. Recently, Christian drew a smiley face on his KUMON box. We hope that Christian will continue in KUMON throughout High School and maybe even into college," said Mary Loucks.
