Small, but mighty Optimist Club raises big bucks

The Lakewood Luncheon Optimist Club is gearing up for its biggest fund raiser of the year at the Mile Hi Nationals event at Bandimere Speedway July 10,11,12. Our small, but mighty club has driven golf carts to transport the huge crowds from parking lots to the main entrance for the past several years. We have up to 8 golf carts running from 8 am to 8:30pm. This takes a lot of manpower. The event is so much fun that we have repeat volunteers year after year. It is also a very successful fundraiser for the club. Last year over $15000 was raised. The money is used to support our many youth projects, the largest being the Second Wind Fund, a teen suicide prevention non profit organization. Our club donated $10,000 this year to Second Wind and we are hoping to top that next year. We have some great sponsors for this event as well. They include Interstate Roofing, Inc., RV America and Easy Custom Print.com. We are especially grateful to Bandimere Speedway for giving us this opportunity. If you are attending the Nationals this year, we hope to give you a ride!

Our club meets every Tuesday at noon at the Fox Hollow Golf Course. If you would like to be part of this small, but mighty force, come visit us and we will buy you lunch.
